Raymarine and Schenker, a touch-screen to control the watermaker

In the perspective of a full integration between monitoring systems and equipment onboard, an interesting technical cooperation has been carried on between two leader companies in their respective market: Flir Raymarine for high performance marine electronics and Schenker Watermakers, manufacturer of high quality watermakers based on an energy recovery system.

From now on, it will be possible to manage Schenker watermakers' functions directly from the latest Raymarine navigation systems; for instance, the new Axiom, a powerful multifunction navigation system recently introduced on the market.
This partnership was born to meet the specific demands of the yachtsmen, more and more interested in the integration and "ease to use" of all the equipment installed on board, including watermakers.
The connection interface between the two different devices is not limited by the communication protocol used in nautical environment nowadays. This aspect is for sure an added value to this system due to its easy configuration which turns out to be quick, simple and flexible for further integrations.
By acting directly on the Axiom Raymarine touch-screen it is possible to start and stop the watermaker, receiving back information on the working condition of the device; furthermore there is the opportunity to manage some other essential commands like "washing", for instance, to flush with fresh water the internal hydraulic circuit of the system as well as the reverse osmosis membranes. The interface Raymarine-Schenker is already available on the market. In the next future, some new functionalities will be added: for example, it will be possible to control the automatic activation of the watermaker in function of the fresh water level in the tanks. All information will be available on the display and the user will be always informed about the state of its fresh water stock.

The interface box is an electronic device marketed by Schenker Watermakers and it belongs to the optional items available for watermakers equipped with digital electronics.
